 PHILOSOPHY

"The goal of Progressive Wing Chun is to train the body and the mind to transcend to a higher mental and physical Level"- David Kerr

Learn to put things in perspective. If someone stares at you the wrong way, who cares? Don't let it affect you; learn to react only when it is necessary. Someone staring at you, tailgating you or stealing your parking space is not a reason for violence. Don't let stupid, immature and insecure people dictate what reaction and action you will take.

You should only fight as a last resort; you must attempt other means of self-defense first. You have to try to walk away or talk yourself out of the situation. But if walking and talking does not work, then you must act and it must be fast and effective.

How do you get the confidence to deal with a physical confrontation?  Real confidence is attained by dedication and time spent learning physical action and reaction to other people or to outside stresses.

Role playing of real life confrontation is essential. When a confrontation happens on the street, it will not be a new experience.  You need to perform when the pressure is on. Your mind will not freeze but will go into action.

You will learn to control your moods and reaction to other people. Remember, people are attracted to confident individuals. You want to be that confident person.

Just don't confuse loud verbal insults or muscle bound bullying with confidence. It takes calmness and maturity to attain real confidence. Which is, ironically enough, the antithesis of a muscle bound insecure idiot.  Learn to be real!
